For This I Was Born

Book Review.

Here is a very ‘sanitzed’ presentation of the ‘blueprint’ for discovering God’s plan for you life and taking steps to come to the place where you can say with conviction, “For this I was born.” When I use the word, ‘sanitized’ I mean void of controversy and confusion. I don’t necessarily disagree with what is being said but the reality in my experience seems to involve more tension and challenges than are presented here. This resource would be helpful along with other thoughtprovoking resources.

Knowing our purpose in life does not have to be a mystery, especially for a Christian. We should assume that we can know what it is that we were born to do. It is all about our involvement in our local church.

“A vision without a cause is little more than a set of personal goals.” (28) There is strength in unity, division destroys. A vision should have an external focus. A person’s calling follows naturally after the salvation experience. Being responsible for what God has gifted us with and working hard with those resources is part of fulfillment in a cause.

“The secret of living a life of purpose is living for something bigger than you are.” (99) We need to understand how time will become an important ingredient of what gives our life purpose.

Self can sabotage the purpose that needs to be ours in Christ. Accomplishing one’s purpose is supported by strong convictions.
